Whittamore's farm adventure with the kids.

Today Sarah, myself and the kids went to Whittamore's farm in Pickering/Markham and we had a great time! We started off our adventure getting lost on the way there, we got off at Morningside and ended up touring Rouge Valley which was nice in itself, but man with two kid whining and Ella asking "are we at the farm yet" repeatedly for 20 minutes, getting lost felt like we had been to the moon and back.

After getting tickets and entering the "farmyard" Ella took off to milk some cows, now don't get too excited, not real cows, plastic utters hanging from a wood outline of a cow. I am not sure why this was so exciting, but Ella adored doing this and throughout the day kept coming back to this same area. To say she may be a farmgirl in the future is an understatement. We also got to see some real animals like, cows, ducks, chickens and sheep. Ethan was over the moon with the cow, he kept repeating both "moo" and "cow" except they came out as "mua" and "ca", but we got the gist of the overexuberate repetitions.

For the kids the best part of the day was the sand area with the toys, now many of these toys are the same we have at home but somehow in the "farmyard" these toys became much more entertaining and were "new" to them again. These certain toys are actually walked over or put aside without a second glance, what makes them so much better in a "farmyard?"

The best part of the day for Sarah and I was the corn. The corn on the cob was honest to goodness the BEST corn I have ever tasted and I have had St. Joseph's Island corn which is the supposed best in Ontario. If I were to explain the corn like I would explain well cooked ribs, I would say they were melting, fall off the bone goodness, well the corn was the same. Surprisingly Ella passed on the corn, Ethan gave it a good go with all his 12 teeth but it didn't work very well.

So we are back at home and the kids were in bed super early, like 6pm early, they both had no nap today which in our home NEVER happens. Sarah and I can have some time to watch a movie, read the newspaper and relax. Have a good one!
